Upcoming Events

We sometimes ask participants to register for Clifftop-sponsored events so that we may contact you should weather or other circumstances cause a cancellation or postponement, and, in the case of seminars and workshops, so that we are able to have sufficient materials prepared for you. Registration information and deadlines are included with event descriptions.

Please save the following dates and then check back with us for detailed program and field trip information for more events!

Saturday, October 12, 2024 – “Isolated Wetlands, How Do Fish Arrive and What Do They Do When They Show Up?” – 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm, Monroe County Annex Building, 901 Illinois Avenue, Waterloo – In June 2023, Clemson University PhD student, Josh Holbrook, two undergraduate students and Jeremy Schumacher (from Ozark Koala Ecosystem Services) conducted trapping surveys at 8 ponds at Paul Wightman Subterranean Nature Preserve. Fifteen traps were put in each pond and checked on consecutive days. Fish were found in two ponds, one that was unknown to have any. In addition, they caught one water snake, numerous turtles, several frog species, newts, beetles, and crayfish. Please join us as Josh reveals the results of his research. This program is free and open to the public, no reservations required.

Join Laura Schaefer in a walk along an ADA accessible trail while picking your own native wildflower and grass seed mix to take home.
